I really enjoyed this assignment. I do believe I could have fully enjoyed it if I knew there was a slight chance I could impress my teacher. I did work very hard. However, writing my beliefs not only helped me to learn how to define myself but it taught me how to define myself as a teacher. When I first sat down to start the assignment, I thought this will be simple. I know how to define myself as a teacher. I will be organized, excited, eager, and disciplined. Well, this all sounds good until you start to research and find that defining yourself as a teacher is so much more than that. There are so many different theorist and styles of teaching and disciplining to be aware of. You have to decide if any part of them are going to be a part of what you believe and do. I think in order to be the best at what you do, you have to take into consideration all the different types and be open to them all. Being a teacher means you never stop learning! When I started to do the layout of my classroom, it was really fun and exciting. It was also educational. You think you know what you want your classroom to look like until you read " The First Days of School" and begin to research the layout of your classroom. It really helps to try to figure out where everything will go to best fit the students and mobility. It helps you to realize everything has a place but it might not be where you thought it should. It has to be where the students can learn the most!!! I enjoyed learning about each theorist and how you can take a piece of each theory and make your own. Not one is completely right, it takes them all. I also enjoyed researching dealing with difficult students. I know this will be a major tool in the real world of teaching. I did reallly dread the video. I think it was because I wanted to use a real classroom and was unable to. I had to use my kids school area at home. But they really enjoyed participating and told me they really thought I would be a good teacher one day. .That made it all worth while!
